The Cat of Bubastes is a book about ancient Egypt. I will be talking about the defeat of the Rebu people, the capture or ‘’slavery’’ of two of the Rebu people, and the death of the cat of Bubastes.
The Rebu were expecting an attack from Egypt. They prepared for war, and the king died in battle. The prince was miraculously saved by his body guard, and was taken to the Rebu capital. The Egyptians then laid siege to the city and captured all the survivors taking them back to the capital of Egypt, Thebes.
The prince and his bodyguard were picked by the high priest of Egypt, and the priest was very kind to them. They cared for the priest’s two children. The prince took care of the boy and his animals, helped him study, and kept him company. The bodyguard did the same as the prince, just for the girl child.
The original cat of Bubastes had died and when it died the priest would search for its successor. The girls cat was chosen and there was much rejoicing but, the cat died suddenly shortly after she was chosen. Loosing a cat in Egyptian religion is considered bad luck so the family experienced some bad luck. However, the family will learn some new things about their religion that they never knew.
I think The Cat of Bubastes is a very exciting story and I think it will continue to be very mysterious!
