In my opinion, the best protest in the 1700’s, was the Sons of Liberty.
The Sons of Liberty was a group of men that protested against the British because of British taxation. They were very effective because they were organized and held rallies actively opposing the British, even using forms of violence to do so. Even though violence should be a last resort, sometimes it is a necessary means to break free from control.
One of the reasons why this movement started was because of the Stamp Act, which is another example of the British trying to control the colonists. The Stamp Act raised taxes on traded goods like sugar. The colonist had to buy a special stamp from Britain, and stamp all items that were taxed! This made the colonists very mad and gave them more energy to protest against Britain.
The Sons of Liberty movement also brought some patriotic thoughts into men’s minds, giving them a sense of freedom and individualism away from England. They were defending their own country for their families and friends! This energy is what made the Sons of Liberty protests important to the cause of America.
The Sons of Liberty’s protesting movement of the 1700’s was a very effective and invigorating movement for the people of America!
