Greece was a very powerful part of world development. We will be highlighting some of their history.
After the early civilizations of Minoa and Mycenae, Greek culture started to take root. At first they were a very small collection of people that had sailed from the ocean, but they started to grow. Due to the rocky soil there and mountainous terrain, growing food became impractical. They started putting their focus into trading with other countries, which formed important alliances that would help them later.
Then the Dark Ages started. This was a time in Greek history when not many records of the civilization were written. We don’t know much about this time so we have many debates over what might have happened.
After the Dark Ages the civilized part of Greece started to develop. Cities started popping up and Greece grew. They started conquering the civilizations of Persia, Egypt, and India. The Peloponnesian wars were a series of wars between the two strongest cities in Greece. They did eventually unite to conquer Persia together. Then Alexander the Great came in, he became King in 336BC and helped the Greeks become the most powerful country in the world.
Greece was very influential in the world and really grew in the time that they ruled.
