Roman Games

1/3/2025

The Roman Games were one of the most violent and exciting entertainment of all time. We will be talking about chariot racing and gladiator fights.

Chariot racing was one of the hardest competitions in Rome. People came from all over to watch the races and cheer on their favorite competitors. The Circus Maximus was a huge chariot racing track in Rome that drew thousands of people. The competitors would line up and do a certain amount of laps to win. If a chariot was turned over or a horse was injured, they were pulled off the track.

The Colosseum was another famous entertainment center in Rome. The games were held two times a day, the first games were held in the morning and the competitors would parade around the ring and hold ‘’hunts’’ in the ring. In the second games gladiators fought one another. There are multiple types of gladiators which where fashioned as Rome’s enemies.

I think Romans entertainment was very cruel, but it does remind us of human nature and how we can learn from Rome’s mistakes.
