A lot of people think that the Indians were just savage primitive, nature-love people, but I will be telling you about some of the ways that they are actually very complex.

Firstly the Indians honored their dead by making very sophisticated cemeteries for their dead. They are the burial mounds, the woodland portion of America. This makes them civilized and shows they had great respect for their elders. They aren’t as savage as people make them look.

Secondly is, the slash and burn method of making flat ground for colonization. This was very smart on their part because they are basically making room for themselves on the earth. God says in Genesis and all throughout the Bible tells us to fill the earth and subdue it. Even though they are obeying God’s command in this way, it doesn’t mean it was good for the earth. The Indians would stay in the same lace for about 10 years, taking all nutrients for the soil until it was depleted, and them move on.

Third is, their faith. They didn’t believe in Christianity which was probably the reason they fell as a people, but they did have a very complicated religious life. They believed that there on God that ruled over the many other smaller nature gods, For example there would be a god of rain, clouds, deer, bears, and trees among many others.

These are my three reasons why Indians are NOT just savage and primitive.
