My house was flooded, and was overflowing. I tried to find a hold an something, any thing, but I was being carried away by the current. Finally, I was swept rather harshly into the bathroom, and in my panic I knocked one of the pipes off my broken sink. The pipe trapped me against the wall, I started to scream, but realizing that wouldn’t do me any good I started to think. Suddenly an idea hit me, literally. The open end of the pipe was hitting me in the mouth. I looked up to see that the ceiling had a whole in it, in which the pipe was sticking up into fresh air. Instantly I put the pipe in my mouth and breathed in the cool, fresh air. I could finally breath but I still couldn’t get out and the water was rising quickly. I saw a big kitchen knife floating toward me. I grabbed it quickly and started sawing at the roof that was by now touching my head. I did this with the pipe still in my mouth, which was not an easy task. I had managed big whole around the pipe in the roof. I waited for the water to push me up again, and when it did it washed me onto my roof. I could see other people on their roofs too, but they all seemed to think that they where safe. I had seen hurricanes like this before, so I knew I was far from ‘’safe’’.

Prince Jaron is the main character in the Ascendance trilogy by Jennifer Nelson. He is the main character in the three books, The False Prince, The Runaway King, and The Shadow Throne. I will be talking about this character’s great courage, love, compassion, and will to protect his friends his Kingdom, and even his enemies.

Prince Jaron is a very courageous king, we see this in the False Prince when Jaron defies his master, Bevin Conner, that is secretly trying to become prime regent in Jaron’s court. He is also very courageous because he laves to climb, in all three books he climbs at least once to escape, save someone, save himself, or spy on people, this is the reason why he is called the ascendance king. We also see Jaron’s courage in the Runaway king when he defeated the Avenging pirates that where killing his country. Yet Again we see his courage in the Shadow throne, when he rescues his beloved Imogen from an Avian camp.

We also see his will to protect and love his friends. He hates death for the people around him so he tries his best to not put them in danger, which sometimes means he has to put his life at risk. We see this in the False Prince where gets fights with his friend Rodin but doesn’t kill him while Rodin will do an thin to kill him to gain the throne. We see this also in the Runaway King when Jaron wraps his head in bandages to make him look like he has plague wounds, which gives him and his friends an escape route. Yet again we see his gallantness when he finally proposes to Imogen in a dungeon.

Prince Jaron is one of the most intelligent and kind kings I have ever seen.

by Jennifer. A. Nelson

This book will tell you a story about a sixteen year old Jewish girl that is fighting the Nazis. She is part of a resistance called Akiva that is fighting the Nazis. Her family is in shambles so she is trying to save her people from dying as a courier. She is very brave and often at the center of battle but she always gets out alive.

A Jewish girl named Chaya Linder is fighting as a courier for Akiva. She acts like a polish girl and wears A catholic crucifix, and she has blond hair like the polish, which are allied with the Nazis.  She smuggles weapons, food, blank identification papers, and spreads word of the resistance into the ghettos that are filled with Jewish people. Usually she hides food and weapons under blankets and pieces of clothing, so even when they search her bags they won’t find the supplies that she is bringing to the Jewish people. She always knows that she may die on one of her trips to the ghettos but that she will tell nothing of the resistance, no matter what they did to her. She also tries to make the men think she was pretty so that they would let her into the ghetto which usually worked, but she never fell in love with any of them because she knew they where Hitler’s allies and had no intention to flirt with any of them. She met a girl that was about her age that was named Esther and had many close calls with her. She even attacked the Cyganeria Café’ that had German solders in it which killed a lot of soldiers but it also got her friends killed and arrested so Chaya hid in a safe house. Later she found Esther and they decided to go to the Lodz ghetto to give the people rations but actually Esther wanted to know if there was still people there. They almost got caught when they left the ghetto, thank god the guy that found them was Jewish. Then when they where going to another ghetto in Warsaw they met up with another resistance and got ready to stop a liquidation of a ghetto in Warsaw they dropped bombs on the Germans, blew up their tanks shot the soldiers, planted land mines and poisoned their food. In the end they lost but they kept fighting. Chaya even got shot in the thigh but she pushed through smoke, burning buildings, and sewers where she lost her friend Esther and drove to a countryside where she was safe and sound. I think this book is a must read because it teaches us to resist in hard times and keep fighting even when could die trying like Chaya Linder with a hole in her thigh. it teaches us to push through even when you are hated. Jennifer also has other books like these which I have read. Beautiful reads.

This book does not have a happy ending, nor does it have a sad ending but it is a very good book and it is about war. Chaya survives and is able to overcome the grief for her friends and family.

Queen Vashti was Queen of Persia. She was invited to a party with her husband, king Ahasuerus. Ahasuerus wanted his Queen to be as beautiful as possible and wanted her to wear her crown, she refused and did not go to the party. That erupted a lot of other situations between her and Ahasuerus, so he decided to divorce her and execute her. Some years later some of Ahasuerus’s servants wanted him to choose a new Queen in place of Vashti. This pleased the King so he selected some women that came into be contestants. One was a Jew named Esther. Esther was being raise by her cousin Medici He put her in as a contestant and she was chosen as one of the women to go further in the contest. I get ready for dance in three easy steps: One, slick my hair into a bun. Two, get dressed and put on makeup, Three, snacks and sanitizer.

The first step to getting ready for dance is putting my hair into a bun. The first thing you do is brush out your hair so it is tangle free. Then take a fine tooth comb, some water and slick your hair back into a pony tail. Next twist your pony tail into a bun shape and secure with U pins. Cover your bun with a hair net, and if you want put a scrunchie around the bun!

The second step to getting ready for dance is putting on clothes. This differs from day to day but I will tell you my dress code for ballet. I wear a leotard and tights, ballet shoes with ribbons, and I can choose my earrings. My makeup pretty simple. I put on lavender scented tallow, brush out my eye brows and fill in the scar that I have on one of them. I apply blush, chap stick, and curl my lashes, then I am done!

The third step to getting ready for dance is packing snacks. I need snacks because I need to stay nourished and and energized during dance. I usually eat these snacks in between classes, these are foods I like to pack: fruit rollups, bison bars, Yes bars, grapes, cheese, cashews, and sometimes cookies. Lastly, I always take water in my water bottle.

When I get ready for dance I am super excited for shat is ahead of me, and that is dance!!

My summer in Florida was a long month and a half trip to both Sarasota and Naples. I will tell you what we did there and some special moments we shared there.

The first stop we made was Destin, Florida. In Destin there was a beach that we swam in for a while, then we had to keep driving to get to our Trusted House Sit in Sarasota. When we got there the dog that we were dog sitting was kind of weird because she didn’t know us yet. I mean we just barged into her home uninvited. The dog’s name was Mia and after a few days she warmed up to us. She started playing with us, and tried to sleep with us (which we wouldn’t let her do). We went to Lido beach a lot on our stay in Sarasota. The down side to Florida in general is there was a lot of mosquitos.

The second stop we had was in Naples. We drove from Sarasota to Naples in three hours, got into our Air B & B and went out to eat.  We decide to go to this restaurant called ‘’Food and Thought’’. We drove there and it was so fancy. The bathrooms where nice there was a bar, and our meus were on tablets! All of their food was organic with no junk!

We could order anything we wanted! From burgers to dessert, everything was delicious. We were amazed by how good everything was that we came back like ten times! We hope that all restaurants aspire to the same food values that Food & Thought practice.

This week in English 6, I will be writing about a family vacation I took over the summer. I will tell you why we went, what we did, and if I would do it again.

We decided to go on out vacation because we wanted to get away from the house for a little while. Our plan was to go to Balomorrea state Park and get a room for the first night so we didn’t have to set op our campsite that night. The next day we would go to our camp site and set up our tent, and stay for two days. For the next two days we would go swimming in the spring pools that we came to enjoy.

What actually happened while we were on our family vacation was a little different than planned. We arrived at our room the fist night and it was pretty nice. We went for a walk and fed a turtle strawberries. In the morning, we drove in our truck to the store because my Mom forgot the meat. It was so hot that our truck started leaking water and we were shocked. My dad poured water into the truck to cool it down, and we got to the store to get our meat. We got to our camp site,  set everything up, made some  breakfast, and finally finally.  We went swimming. I did all kinds of things at the pool, backflips off the diving board, snorkel, and just lie around and have lunch. We slept and did the same thing the next day except we cooked pancakes. We discovered that if we went in the shower with our clothes on, that helped us stay cool. The day that we left was a horrible. My poor mom tore some ligaments in her ankle, our truck was leaking water like crazy, and we almost hit an elk

I would never do that trip again because we gad so many accidents dents, and it was tow hot The drive home was crazy in its own way because we had to keep stopping in order to keep the truck cool by pouring water in the radiator. That was family trip this year. I think that I could go there again just not with so many accidents.

How I think the story of the railway children will end is the father dies, and the children will find out. The most important thing that I thing that I think will happen in the story is that the father will die and the family will be grieving. However, the death of their father will be a mystery that the children will figure out later on.

The most important thing tat I think will happen is the children will figure out what happened to their father. I think they will find he was crushed in his brand and murdered.         That is my prediction on how the story will end
