Today I will tell you the story of Deborah the judge and one of the only females in the bible. She was a beautiful, vivacious, and spiritual young woman, and was called by God to lead the Israelite army into battle. We will be discussing how Deborah was chosen, what she did as a judge, and why she is important.
Before Israel had kings to rule over them, God appointed judges and prophets to speak to the people on His behalf. When the judge was a Godly influence, he would lead Israel to repentance and victory over their enemies. In the case of Deborah, Israel was paralyzed by fear of Sisera, the commander of the Jael army who boasted 9000 iron chariots. God rose up an unlikely Judge, prophetess and hero of faith, a woman named Deborah.
Next, we will talk about what she did as a judge. Deborah was supposed to go and tell warrior Barak, to go fight against Sisera and defeat them, but Barak was scared to go alone so he took Deborah with him. They ended up winning the war!!
Deborah is important because in these troubling times she brings us strength, hope, and inspiration. Go to God to deliver us from sin just like Deborah.
Deborah was a brilliant, brave, and faithful woman that I think we should follow by her example.
