One of the things the Greeks spent a lot of time on is pottery, they would sculpt it paint it and use it.

            The Greeks usually sculpted the clay that they where using into vases, primarily and bowls, plates, and the like. They also did not make their pottery very thick so they where really easy to break so that is why we find pieces of pottery broken in Greece.

            The Greeks liked painted pottery, but did not have the colors that we do today, so they had to content themselves with red and black. Sometimes the pottery would have a light cream color because of the soil in that region but usually it was black on red or red on black.

            The Greeks used their pottery a lot because their homes where so simply furnished, so they used the vases as a pop of color in their houses.
